Article Syndication and Mini-Website SEO

Many businesses opt for a small website to market a niche product or service.  If your business has made that decision and if it hopes to achieve value from the site for a long period of time, you need to concentrate almost all of your search engine optimization (SEO) labor on getting external links, because choosing a mini-site means giving up the built-in advantages of the larger sites with a large number of internal links pointing toward the most important pages.

You should use all available opportunities to obtain high quality external links, including directory listing, hiring a SEO consulting firm and using social media for its viral features.  However, I want to focus your attention on one of the most important of the link building methods, article marketing. 

Content syndication offers several advantages for improving your search engine optimiation through obtaining external links.  First, if you do it properly, article marketing allows you to collect inbound links from a variety of sites that publish your content, and many of the websites will be from unique IP addresses, which is meaningful to algorithms of the major search engines.  Second, article marketing permits you to control the linking text of those links, and that linking text (sometimes refered to as “anchor” text) is one of the primary methods that a search engine uses to determine the topic of any given web page.  Third, article marketing is relatively inexpensive and easy when compared to some of the other ways of obtaining quality links.  The ease of the process can be largely attributed to the introduction of specific software for article marketing.

I am able to be very productive in my article distribution, but only because I maintain memberships in two different article marketing systems.  My approach is to write ten to fiften fresh articles each week.  I spin each of those to obtain hundreds of unique versions for distributions to article directories (in one system) and to individual websites (in the other system).  I use different articles for each system, to further reduce the chances for any content duplication.

The other system to which I have a membership also provides a linked spinning and distribution.  This system, though, distributes the uniquely spun article versions directly to niche specific websites (including blogs). 

If I had to choose one, I would choose the second, but it’s a very close decision.  They both offer their own advantages, so I maintain memberships in both.  They are actually very reasonably priced considering the value of what they offer.  I pay less for the two monthly fees combined than what I pay for a moderately priced dinner for two.  Consequently, a combination of the two is what I would recommend for use in the SEO efforts for your mini-sites, with an added benefit of almost immediately increasing traffic.

Which Are The Best Article Directories?

There are an ever increasing number of article directories springing up, attemting to take advantage of the popularity that has become of writing articles as a form of web promotion and have in the past even used a manual article submission service. What people can be unsure of however, is which of these sites to post their article to. In this article I write about the article directories which I use.

EzineArticles

The first directory that I ever posted an article to was the ever popular ezinearticles. It seems so long ago now, where in truth it was probably only around ten months ago. This directory was recommended to me by a friend who is a jobs in foster care expert and he also offers Voucher Codes. In my opinion is certainly one of the best. Each article is reviewed before being accepted, this is not true of many of the other directories, especially the newer sites.

When you search for the title of your article a few days after it has been accepted in for example the search engine google, you are normally able to see it highly placed in the results. One of the first articles I submitted was called stuttering and its effects, this article is still placed in the top ten of google after many months.

If you are only planning on submitting your article to one directory this is the one I would advise that you use.

Goarticles

Many people, including a business contact who writes articles about obtaining cheap calls, have told me that they prefer to use goarticles when looking for an article to add to their site. For this reason alone, I always ensure that I submit my article to this directory.

Articlealley

One of the main things that impresses me about article alley is the fact that they also publish your articles on a couple of their other websites. What is more you do not even have to do any additional work. Additional exposure is always good.

Articledasboard

I been reading on some of the SEO forums that this particular directory could be the next “big thing”; I will keep my eye on its progress. The site has a page rank of six which is always a good sign.

Ideamarketers

This directory is my fifth choice in order of merit and has many interesting articles.

It is hard to know how many of these directories people should be submitting their article to. I have been given lots of different advice on this subject and have decided to come up with my own conclusion. I personally normally submit my articles to around twenty of these sites but always the five above.

Bing and Article Marketing

Bing from Microsoft is one of the newest search engines on the Internet, although the company’s promotions establish it as a different search tool.   The company has termed it a ‘decision engine’, and it has some exclusive features Google Search does not have.  For example, Bing’s user interface can provide the user with more accurate and pertinent data with less effort, which is something that Google sometimes fails to do.

The question is, with the innovations that the new search engine offers, how do you tailor your article marketing efforts to glean maximum results from the up-and-coming Bing?  First, let us briefly discuss the special aspects of the Bing ‘decision engine.’

After entering a search keyword or key phrase, Bing comes up with relevant results, some of which are more refined and informative than what you would expect from Google.   Some may argue that this only seems so because of the new user interface.  Bing typically displays the information that one can access with Google Search with more depth, even without going directly to the page the info is on.  Further information is displayed without leaving the Bing results page, simply by moving your cursor over the associated information.  If the information contains associated meta-data, moving the cursor over the primary information will display this as well.

It may seem that one needs to redo or rethink his article marketing strategy, but the conventional standards may still be used.  Creating well-crafted articles relevant to your niche, integrating the appropriate keywords, and submitting your articles to as many popular directories as possible (while creating the appropriate resource box or author biography) will still allow you to make headway over the competition.

The more detailed data that can be seen through Bing’s search results may equate to more convenient access to the desired information for any visitors.  Of course, as the search engine evolves, it remains to be seen if a website owner needs to tweak his or her article marketing efforts to a greater degree, for purposes of gaining more website traffic.  Despite the popularity of Google Search, you can gain traffic with Bing, as it promotes the information contained in your articles much better than Google.

There is no need to overhaul your article marketing strategies entirely, if you wish to cater to Internet users who utilize Bing.  Keeping track of any developments that Bing undergoes and slightly amending the components of your article writing service may give you the results and exposure that you wish to achieve.
